Fraternities
and Sororities are fraternal social organizations for undergraduate students.
The term refers mainly to such organizations at colleges and universities in
the Philippines.
Typically,
fraternities are single-sex, initiatory organizations with membership
considered active during the undergraduate years only, although a notable
exception to this rule is historically, and multicultural organizations, in
which active membership continues, and into which members are often initiated
long after the completion of their undergraduate degrees. Fraternal
organizations may sometimes be considered mutual aid societies, providing
academic and social activities. Some fraternities maintain a chapter house,
providing residential and dining facilities for members and alumni’s.
The
set fraternal structure may not coincide with facts, evolving in operational
action. Such divergence decreases performance, when growing, a wrong fraternal
structure may hamper cooperation and thus hinder the completion of orders in
due time and within limits of resources and budgets. Fraternal structures shall
be adaptive to process requirements, aiming to optimize the ratio of effort and
input to output.
An
effective fraternal structure shall facilitate working relationships and
understanding between various entities in the organization and may improve the
unity within the organizational units. Fraternity shall retain a set order and
control to enable monitoring the processes. Fraternity organization shall
support command for coping with a mix of orders and a change of conditions
while performing work. Fraternal organization shall allow for application of
individual skills to enable high flexibility and apply creativity.
When
the fraternity expands, the chain of command will lengthen and the spans of
control will widen. When a fraternal organization comes to age, the flexibility
will decrease and the creativity will fatigue. Therefore the organizational
structures shall be altered from time to time to enable recovery. If such
alteration is prevented internally, the final escape is to turn down the
organization to prepare for a re-launch in an entirely new set up.
Additionally,
some fraternities defined themselves as strong and will shall flourished onward
forever due to the ambiguous nature of the terms "fraternity" and "sorority"
with respect to gender, and due to the inaccuracy and potential sexist nature
of the use "fraternity" to describe aforementioned organizations.’
The
Adamas Nu Omega bears the quality of being brothers; fraternal relationship or
spiritedness; brotherliness. And they joined together by common interests,
fellowship, and a group of people with the same faith of encouragement and
sacrifices, however.
THE
CHALLENGED AND SACRIFICES
My
attention has been called to the fact that the entire aforementioned are
contrary to some organization I knew. Of course, there were sacrifices that
almost destroy my life and slewed my achievements, and I shall mention them
shortly.
My
inclusion criterion was my participation in the first batch of Adamas Nu Omega
when the fraternity started in early 1976. Mike or Malic Tagoranao, Grace Sunga
and Edwin Quiros were among the founders however, only one founder Malic has
been known to me. Joe Cuenco the Grand Archon of Emerald chapter and Mario
Lopes the Vice Grand Archon were my recruiters into the Adamas Nu Omega at
Feati University with our organizer Michael Jardaliza. I was then became the
Master Initiator and my life stated changes into negative direction, i committed suicide that brought me to Chinese General hospital.
Tagged
with my strong commitment and determination to widen the organization’s thrust,
I organized the Leyte and Samar chapter's under the strong support from one of
the Founders, Malic Tagoranao who gives me all the required documents and 60pcs
of ANO ID's which i duly signed and distributed, however it was beyond his
instinct 'nostalgia'.
Among
my recruits were Boeit Abenoja and Alex Ecarma from Naval whose contributions
caused the memberships to soar in Biliran and Leyte-Samar, fiscal Salloman in
Almeria is our legal adviser. We covered from the north to the south of the
regions. Boeit and I organized Tacloban areas; Asisclo Sabili concentrated
student recruits from Samar, while Alex covered Cebu. However Nasser Bubong and
Buddy Alonto were also in Cebu for the same mission. During that mission, we
are only armed with determination, courage and trying not to show fear in every
trouble's we encountered and without any National Council's or alumni's
back-up. We start from nothing to scratch's, funded with our own pockets.
Bro
Boeit Abenoja who organized Hindang accused of rebellion among locals and he
was brought to Ormoc city’s military detachment for questioning. Due to our
strong recruitments in Naval Biliran Province the 'Adamas Nu Omega' collides with the 'Zigma
Lambda Phi' spearheaded
by their organizer Ka Danilo Velasquez and their president Reynaldo Sanosa. The
two protagonists were brought to the municipal hall for peace sponsored by the
late RTC Judge Pateño
and the police.
Ironically,
bro Antonio Villo was killed by another group of people who collide with the
Adamas Nu Omega on the night of early 1977, the case closed. The recruitments
moves-on for Adamas Nu Omega. The recruitment reach to three thousand four hundred twenty one including the UEP Catarman Northern of Samar where i become a member of EVRAA football and swimming delegation.
Other
recruits who have since evolved into smear recruitments were Brothers Nestor
Silawan and Jojo Suarez, who organized Hilongos down to Maasin Leyte. While
Baybay Leyte was organized by brother Mario Lopes in 1977, after a decade the
FCIC chapter disappeared and the Quartz chapter VISCA reappeared.
Moreover,
I move to Palompon Leyte and spread the Adamas Nu Omega wings, however i was involved
with an accident between an army man named "Iktol Gegor" who was
punished by my ’samurai,’
neutralized and disabled him, then i fled the area. Ironically, i was shot
at point blank, which the bullet struck in my iliac bone that almost landed me to
death. During my ordeal i never received any support and assistance both from
my friends and from the organization and its leadership.
After
another incident in Tacloban with two casualties from AKHRO, i was brought by
Ka Juancho Feniza and Ariel Buna into Samar and in that following year i
proceeded to Manila and the Jewel chapter of the defunct Divine World
University dismantled.
FAILURE
AND ITS HIGHEST ACHIEVEMENT
The
organization is expanding and the
leadership is shirking, literally. For the year 1979 if I’m not wrong, the
Adamas Nu Omega became the chairman of Cebu Fraternal organization. Rene
‘Dodong Tan’ from Samar had been selected as the Chairman of Cebu
Inter-fraternity and sorority representative for Adamas Nu Omega UV chapter
with the active participation of Bloodstone Chapter under its Grand Archon
Vernon Artil which is now a PNP officer.
Nasser
Macaantal wanted to follow the footsteps of Dodong to be the chairman of
ANΩCebu but failed due to technical problem and lack of ANΩ -NGC support,
however the named ANΩ -NGC is not in existence and the 3founder cannot bring
into being. But Nasser had contributed his best for the interest of ANΩ at University of San Jose-Recoletos,
helping its organizer Alex Qiamco, however He was shot to death. Another alumni
member Elmer Fernandez had been named the custodian of Cebu Adamas Nu Omega
after Nasser was assassinated. And Atty Geronimo 'Boy' Creer the legal consultant of the Golden Circon Chapter was also killed with his live-in partner Zenaida Gomez in their office after a visit by an ANΩ member who is also police officer however the suspect Jecknel Inso was gunned down by Creer's created "agaw armas/vigilantes" in 1994.
With
Jojo Caneja and the rest, then we organized the main San Carlos University and
Cyrel Lagahit becomes the Grand Archon. We recruited the best students,
dean-listers and scholars. Sans our knowledge a group of students in San Carlos
University, Talamban campus also claimed to be ANΩ with their organizer named Paul Sarra,
and their Grand Archon is Ted Belleza. Many of whom are members of KGB and
other group of organization, and a member of notorious and; brutal gangs, black
mailers, rapists, drug pushers and drug users. This cause confusions and
misunderstandings--- it almost caused our lives and our organization’s
existence. Adamas Nu Omega was in media and police track list spearheaded by
Cebu Police Superintendent Panfilo Lacson. Many
of whom quit from the organization and the recruitment brings to an end.
The
PEACEFULL meeting and its anniversary of Adamas Nu Omega held in
TavernaCourtCebuCity presented by some ANΩalumni with bro Elmer Fernandez, bro
Jun Tabay, bro Roseller Paler, bro Marlon Sanico with USJR and UCchapters
(formerly CCC) is a good development for the unity of the Adamas Nu Omega San
Carlos University, and i was invited too without bro Cyrel Lagahit, and bro
Jojo Caneja. The meeting was successful with no untoward incidents as what has
been reported by a liar who chat with Tres Domino Perez Esmen. Ike who was then the Grand Archon of Bloodstone
Chapter is mentally incapacitated due to financial problem but talk a lot of
movie stories. After a month of peaceful relationship, Bemson Funcion an
ANΩ Leyte member, a chief security officer and a law student was attack by the
member of ANΩTalamban with the Jasper Chapter spearheaded by Jerry Macairan,
Micahel Naya, Allan Veloso, Allan Galon, Bong Tayo, Joel Alegado, Thor Galves Kuizon,
Paul Sarra, Nelson Lagura and others, that confused and scare's us. Adamas Nu
Omega reaches its tipping point but failure on its achievement. Lost control on
its recruitment, and destroy our self-understanding that errs to the
organization.
Hoping
to avoid war with the organization, I backed down and advice the San Carlos
main to join with the Talamban, Jeremy Jandog was then the Grand Archon.
SMEAR
CAMPAIGN
A campaign to discredit was
out against me and questioned my leadership and membership. They maliciously
malign me and my family. They created a movie story that there was an attack against me, directed by "IKE
SAMADA?" They went further too spitefully spread hearsay spearheaded by Thor Galves Kuizon and the rest of the
ANΩTalamban for I’m
a “nun grata” member
without even getting the facts cleared. They revealed the secrets and password
of the organization and change it. They accused me of doing this. They never
value, the named "UNITY and SOLIDARITY," likewise BURNING LOVE with
one another that signifies its Diamond, they refuse any reconciliation until the organization cannot stand on
its own feet.
They
blame me for destabilizing the ANΩCebu chapters. Further campaign that I’ve
been in the mountain with the insurgent and with the MILF, a malicious hearsay
to destroy the chosen one. As being a leader, it is expected that all the
burden may comes against us however, i gratefully welcomed all those hurdles.
Like Jesus Christ, i was put to a cross.
Maybe
i fall so many times on making the Adamas Nu Omega great, but i won’t be a
failure until i say someone push me. Any of us can make a mistake but only an
idiot persist. Like blessing in disguise, I voluntarily relinquish(QUIT)
my membership to avoid destroying the organization's and left the country and
successfully enjoying the best achievement i ever have with my family. I left Philippines with five thousand two hundred (5,200) member's in my list. Most of my die-hard recruits turn into a well to do
professionals but 95% including me are no longer interested with this
fraternity.
The Philippine President had visited my place and I was given a complimentary
return ticket by a senator to visit Philippines due to my active participation
in Philippine tourism. When I visited Cebu I had a chance to spoke with
"Jesus Elmer Fernandez" and now a police commander, "Jun Duarte"
another police commander in Butuan, "Michael Diso" and "Abet who
worked in a municipal trial court" in Marawi (thru telephone), while ‘jun’Tabay who was in a BBRC (prison) seminary, under the custodian of inspector Renante Rubio from of ANΩSamar. Ceferino ‘jun’ Tabay said; “in times of trouble we know our real
friends.” while Ruseller Paler had no longer interested.
I sadly
learned that some of the notorious evil's who penetrated the Adamas Nu Omega,
USC Talamban were punished by God either executed by the Vigilantes or had
committed suicide; Jan Amistad was dead, Jerry Macairan the Jasper Chapter
Organizer ( Cebu Aeronautical Tech) was found dead near the Cebu Plaza
hotel brutally murdered. He
was accused of making someone pay so embarrassing information not revealed;
multiple rape and hold-ups, five
of them survive the shotgun attack in Fuente Osmena after their drinking
session in Horison Park, namely; Marlon Sanico, Michael Naya, Arthur Naya and
another two. And they suspect that it was Jojong Aznar who massacred them
without knowing the three security guard riding a red-plated jeep. More of the
sorority become pregnant without husband.
Setting
aside the past untoward events, I am happy that the organization survives under
a new leadership with the return of the founder thru the internet, however Cebu
ANΩchapter's had no longer the power to stand strong while the rest of its neighbouring
provinces continued their achievements. Good riddance!
Ironically with
the revival of the organization many had come claiming
that i am He/She a bonified member of the Adamas Nu Omega but need a financial
help from the organization because there were reports that the Adamas Nu Omega
had reached its torch abroad, I know that there are but some are hearsay. But I’m fully confident that in appropriate time, the Adamas Nu
Omega will be able to do so effectively to ensure more development on its
leadership and to the organization itself. "I REALLY HOPE IT!"
because the organization is fully armed with courage and experiences.
Presently,
the new system was endorsed and agreed to modernize the Adamas Nu Omega and they created a National Councils in different provinces because the organization have different viewpoint. New biometric ID has been issued to the newly members... duly signed by
bro Elmer Fernandez the regional custodian of the organization. "The proceed of
the money was keep by someone to line his pocket because his wife who work as "house consultant" 'con domestic helper in Hongkong,delayed on sending the fixed amount of money for his daily needs." When he read this line he turn-over the remaining i'd's to someone and created a separate National Council named "Adamas Nu Omega Association in Cebu INC, Cebu Chapter" to be register in SEC, starting today in order to cover his face. Mabuhay ka!
